Youth Mentorship at Mariwenyi Village in Taita Taveta County on April 20, 2024

Together with a group of friends and volunteers, I am involved in youth mentorship in my home village, Mariwenyi, in Taita Taveta County, Kenya. We hold annual mentorship events where the youth are imparted with life-skills to succeed in life. So far, we have had 3 such events with the inaugural one held on December 26, 2020, dubbed, "Finishing Strong". Starting from 2023, we have endeavored to hold the event every year. 

Apart from the annual mentorship event, we also fundraise for bright and needy high school students who would otherwise drop out of school, or stay out of school for extended periods jeopardizing their education. We use a thorough screening process to identify these students and keep all the records for anyone who wishes to audit the programme. So far, 3 have finished successfully and one even attained C+ which is enough for university entry, but is pursuing their dream to do nursing. Presently (2024), there are 4 students we are supporting through the programme and we are seeking to fundraise for 2 more.
