The Instrument:
Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is a type of mass spectrometry that uses inductively coupled plasma to ionize the sample (organic, inorganic and heavy metals). It atomizes the sample and creates atomic and small polyatomic ions, which are then detected. It is an analytical technique that is used to measure the mass-to-charge ratio of ions. The results are presented as a mass spectrum, a plot of intensity as a function of the mass-to-charge ratio.
Make: Agilent Technologies
Model: Agilent 7850
Features and Specification:
Ultra-High Matrix Introduction (UHMI) system, and can handle matrix levels up to 25% TDS.
Measuring high matrix samples like seawater, food or soil digests is easily done with the up to 100-fold aerosol dilution provided by the UHMI system.
Mass Analyzer: Mass range: 2 to 260 amu
Resolution: Variable from 0.3 to 1.0
Applications:
Trace metal measurement in water samples.
Waste analysis, pharmaceutical, food and packaging.
Analysis of nanoparticles.
