About CISIC

University of Ladakh established “Centralized Interdisciplinary Science Instrumentation Centre (CISIC) with the support of Department of Science & Technology (DST) scheme "Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE-2022)" for a duration of four years (2023-2027). The main objective of the scheme is to strengthen the research capacity of performing Indian universities, providing support to nurture the research ecosystem and reinforce the R&D base across universities in the country.

In addition, the UT administration of Ladakh as well as the Wildlife Protection Department is also supported the establishment of the Mountain Research Institute (MRI). Under the MRI initiative. University received funds for further strengthening the CISIC capabilities.

The establishment of CISIC aims to create a state-of-the-art instrumentation facility for advanced research. As the only Trans-Himalayan Institute of Higher Learning, UoL strives to enhance the scientific research capabilities of the region.

The CISIC lab is equipped with sophisticated instruments including: X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) Surface Area Analyzer, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), Multichannel Electrochemical Workstation, Genome Sequencing, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Nitrogen/Protein Analyzer, Microwave Digestor, Fume Hood, Laminar Airflow Cabinet, Polarizing Microscope, Simple Microscope, and BOD Incubator etc.
