Dr. Radwan Alnajjar is currently the Director of the Environmental and Biological Chemistry Research Centre at the University of Benghazi (since August 2026), an Assistant Professor of Medicinal Organic Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Benghazi, and the Head of the CADD Unit at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Libyan International Medical University (LIMU).

Born in Benghazi, Libya, Radwan graduated from the University of Benghazi with a B.Sc. in Chemistry in 2009 (first in his class) and an M.Sc. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry in 2013. In December 2023, he earned his Ph.D. in Medicinal Organic Chemistry from the University of Cape Town under the supervision of Prof. Kelly Chibale, focusing on drug development for neglected tropical diseases, with an emphasis on malaria.

With over a decade of experience in synthetic organic chemistry, computer-aided drug design (CADD), and computational modeling (DFT, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation), his research interests center on anticancer, antimicrobial, and antiviral drug discovery.

To date, he has published over 92 peer-reviewed papers (h-index: 21, i10-index: 42, 1,699+ citations). He received the Best Researcher Award from LIMU in 2024 and 2nd place for the Best Research Award at the University of Benghazi in 2025. Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of Discover Chemistry and Scientiae Radices.
