My true passion is teaching, and creating fun ways to keep students engaged. I love reading and crafting, so that was just a bonus for including that skill into my classroom. My students know that I am a Harry Potter fan, still waiting for my letter to Hogwarts. That is usually my classroom theme now in high school where I make many of my room decor items. If there is something that I can do to help our students be successful, I will work my hardest to get it done. My biggest rewards are watching my students graduate!
I Love Public Schools:
Our school was involved in a long-term project with "I Love Public Schools," where students are the film-makers, learning all aspects of movie production and communications. Being a part of the I Love Public Schools film crew and co-teaching with Mrs. Pearson has been a fun adventure, I also learned so much about equipment, interviewing, lighting and sound, it was facinating. Then Covid hit our area and put a stop to everything it seemed. I look forward to finishing our project when things settle.
I commute from the Wakefield/Wayne area and I am a cowgirl at heart. I always have had a lot of animals from a potbellied pig, llamas, goats to horses and miniature donkeys. I just love animals! Now I am retiring to having a horse and some dogs which are like having children anyway. I like to spend time with my family and working on my farm.
I graduated from Wayne State College with a BS in Elementary Education K-8, and Psychology, with a minor in Criminal Justice, and then from Doane College with my Masters. I received my Doctorate in Education through Doane University.
I am the mother of five children that are all grown.
My oldest son Brandon is married to Arielle, and they have my three grandchildren (RayAnn, Paul, and Marek) Brandon owns his own tree service business called Kneifl Tymber, and Arielle is a recruiter for Mount Marty College.
My daughter Holly is married to Andrew Stewart. Holly is also a recruiter for Mount Marty College, and Andy is teaching Social Studies at Dakota Valley.
My daughter Megan works for YMCA Camp Kitaki, where she is an Educational Director at the camp.
My daughter Jewel is married to Keaton Harpham. Jewel is the Guidance Counselor at Wayne High School and Keaton is the IT Director at Pender Public School.
My youngest son Kaden graduated from South Dakota State University, majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries. He is the Field Representative for the Papio-Missouri River NRD. He has helped to plant trees in our 3 Sisters Garden at UNPS.
