Copy of Meet the Teacher Letter

Hi!! My name is Mrs. Simonsen and I will be your child's second grade teacher this year! I have been teaching going on 16 years and this is my 13th in Macy!! I really enjoy the students, staff and the people in the community. I am really excited to begin the school year with the learning that we will be able to implement We are in this together!

A little background about myself. Like I said above this is my 16th year teaching and 13th at Umonhon Nation. I have always lived around the area. I am from Lyons, left to get my teaching degree and then wanted to raise my children in a small town so came back to the area and now currently still reside in Lyons. I married in July of 2007. My husbands name is Eric and I love that he is also around the area so all of our immediate family is close by. We have three beautiful children together. Jaylynn is in 5th grade and is 10 years old. Hunter is our middle child and is in 2nd grade at 7 years old. Last year we were blessed with our third child. Another boy. Greyson was born in October of last year.

I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNL in Lincoln. I graduated mid year (December) and was fortunate enough to be able to get lots of experience in many different setting by substituting. I have also taught in my hometown of Lyons and was the last teacher at the country school Elm Creek, teaching 4 different grades at the same time (boy that was quite the experience!) that was located in between Lyons and Decatur. I student taught 1st grade and loved it so when I had the opportunity to take a 1st grade position at a Catholic school in Crete I jumped on it. We lived in Lincoln and realized that we wanted to come back to the small town life before we began our family. Best decision we ever made!! After we moved back to Lyons I began teaching in resource here at Umonhon Nation. The next year I was very fortunate to be able to move to second grade where I have taught ever since.
