The College of Criminal Justice Education (formerly Institute of Criminology) of the University of Northern Philippines was established School Year 1976-1977. The course, Bachelor of Science in Criminology is focused on the different criminological sciences, law enforcement administration, law (criminal laws) correctional philosophies and practices, probation, defense tactics, trends in the criminal justice system, and other relevant fields of criminology.
Now the College of Criminal Justice Education offers two (2) programs. The B.S. Criminology, and the Master of Science in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology. The the BSCrim is a four-year course while the Master’s program is a two (2) year course. The curriculums are work oriented. What are incorporated in the curriculums are subjects chosen on the basis of actual needs and priorities to make the curriculum responsive to the manpower requirements of law enforcement as well as in private organization requiring police service, a day-to-day concern, person-to-person, and person-to community involvement, in which social mores, needs and problems come into full play.
In order to ensure the systematic flow of incorporating innovations for the quality results in offering the programs in the college as reflected in one of the Ten (10) Governance Initiatives of the present administration “Effectiveness of Systems”, thus, the crafting of the College of Criminal Justice Education Operations Manual.

Objectives
The college aims to:
1. foster the values of leadership, integrity, accountability and responsibility among students while serving their fellowmen, community and country;
2. prepare students for careers in crime prevention, law enforcement, scientific crime detection, and correctional administration; and
3. develop in students the skills in research and inquiry along the nature, causes, treatment or punishment of criminal behavior and how criminal justice agencies respond to crime, criminals and victims; and
4. Be self-reliant.
