Application Information
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) Research Supply Funds, in the amount of $1000, aim to foster faculty-undergraduate researcher collaborations.
Eligibility
Faculty
All tenured, tenure-track, and full-time non-tenure track UNLV faculty, across all academic disciplines, who will mentor UNLV undergraduate students conducting research projects may apply for the funds detailed here.
Faculty must demonstrate how the funds will benefit undergraduate researchers
All faculty applications are expected to carry a minimum 25% cost-sharing match from the faculty member’s home department, college, and/or school. On a case-by-case basis, the matching funds requirement may be waived.
Research projects requiring the purchase of small equipment or supplies that will enhance capacity building for sustainable undergraduate student research will be prioritized.
Research projects that stimulate interdisciplinary collaborative efforts that involve use of small equipment and supplies by students will be prioritized.
Students
All currently enrolled UNLV undergraduates who will have not graduated before the end of the awarded semester and working with a UNLV FRM are eligible for consideration.
Undergraduate researchers must specify and demonstrate how the supplies will facilitate and advance their research and career development.
Undergraduate researchers must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
Undergraduate researchers must have a letter of support from the faculty mentor endorsing the project
Multiple undergraduate researchers applying for support for the same project or related projects may receive smaller awards.
Undergraduate researchers with prior OUR funds may be placed on the lower end of the priority scale.
Application Process & Deadline
Faculty members are required to submit the following as part of the application package:
A short statement from their department chair confirming financial commitment for at least 25% or matching funds
CVs of participating faculty
A one-page statement clearly and briefly describing:
Research project
Small equipment or supplies to be purchased within the context of the proposed research
A statement on how will use of the small equipment and supplies contribute to students’ research education and professional development
Anticipated deliverables that will contribute to UNLV’s undergraduate research output in the form of a research presentation, publication, innovation, and/or funding with faculty-undergraduate co-authors.
A one-page itemized budget and its justification
A letter of support for their undergraduate student to our@unlv.edu

All earmarked funds for OUR's Research Supply Funds have been exhausted and we are no longer accepting applications for the 2023-2024 academic year.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis and awards will be granted until OUR’s earmarked funds are exhausted. For summer undergraduate research awards, please consider applying to OUR’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) which are exclusively dedicated to support summer research projects.
