Event Location and Driving Direction

The GenCyber event will be held at UNLV SEB (Science and Engineering Building). It is at the north side of the UNLV Campus. Please refer to the direction on this page (https://www.unlv.edu/maps/seb). A large outdoor parking lot (Lot P) is located at the north side of the building off Cottage Grove ave. Parents can drop students at the north entrance facing the parking lot. If students are driving a car, they can park at the same parking lot. Parking permits will be distributed on the first day.

The event will be held at the classroom (SEB 1243) on the first floor everyday. Registration desk will be located in front of the classroom.

Highlights of the program

Free breakfast, free lunch. There is no cost to attend. Lots of prizes.
Guest speeches: Cybersecurity experts from top cybersecurity organizations (Las Vegas Sands, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Verizon, US Secret Service, Las Vegas Metro Police Department, etc.) will present the current status of cyber attacks and defenses.
Cybersecurity in Movies: Many movies feature hacking or cyber attack incidents. We will watch movie clips and discuss what we can learn from them.
Cyber Drama: Cybersecurity is much more than technical aspects. Technology itself cannot solve all cybersecurity problems. Before resorting to technology, the process of handling a situation should be properly established and executed. The purpose of cyberdrama is dramatizing the devastation of a cyber attack, expressing possible responses under stress, and suggesting proper solutions. Students will present lessons on how to assess and control the damage, and how to resolve the situation by applying the Cybersecurity First Principles.
Field Trip: We will visit Mob Museum on Tuesday afternoon and learn the underlying cybersecurity principles.
Final Presentation: Students will make a performance on Friday afternoon. Students are welcome to invite family members and friends or teachers.
