1. What is the Rebel Start Summer Camp?
The RSSC is a cohort-based initiative designed to prepare high school students for college and career readiness by offering FREE college courses for dual credit.
2. How can my child benefit from this program?
Students will earn college credits, enhance critical thinking skills, explore various career paths, and receive advising and mentorship. They’ll also participate in activities that promote personal growth and leadership development.
3. Are there any costs associated with the program?
The cost of registration and enrollment is $105. However, we do offer financial assistance to those in need, to ensure that all students who qualify can participate. This differs from the typical summer course cost which includes is about $292.00 per Undergraduate credit.
For Students
1. What courses will be offered during the summer camp?
This summer, we will offer CED 117 "Interpersonal Skills in Human Relationships" and LDE 201 "Introduction to Leadership".
2. What if I’m not sure about my future career?
No worries! The program includes career exploration activities and assessments to help you discover your interests and strengths. You’ll also learn about various high-demand careers and the programs available at UNLV. The great thing about this experience is that regardless of the university or the program you major in, you will have access to these credits!
3. Will I receive support during the program?
Absolutely! Each student will benefit from advising and mentorship from experienced instructors. You’ll have the resources and guidance needed to succeed academically and personally.
4. How will this program prepare me for college?
In addition to earning college credits, you’ll develop essential skills like time management, critical thinking, and effective communication. The program also includes activities focused on college preparation and college readiness.
4. Do I get access to resources on the UNLV campus?
Yes! Studets have access to all the UNLV resources available when enrolled.
For Schools
1. How can our school get involved with RSSC?
Schools can collaborate with RSSC to promote the program and encourage student enrollment. We provide resources and support to help schools engage with their student populations effectively.
2. What are the program's eligibility criteria?
Students from any high school can apply, with particular outreach to those from Title 1 schools. The program is designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring that all interested students have the opportunity to participate.
