AMWA is an organization of female physicians, medical students, and other people dedicated to serve as the unique voice for women’s health and the advancement of women in medicine. As UNLV's only women's premedical organization, our mission is to advance women in medicine, advocate for equity, and ensure excellence in healthcare.
We often partner with local non-profit organizations such as Opportunity Village, American Red Cross, and Vitalant to provide service events to our members. We also have annual service projects. Past projects include mask collections and creating feminine hygiene kits for a local Women's shelter.
A mentorship program within our branch is available to members. Mentors and mentees are matched based on majors and future career plans. Underclassmen are able to ask upperclassmen for guidance on classes, professors, and pre-health journey! We also have a mentorship program with UNLV's School of Medicine AMWA branch. Mentees are able to ask their mentors on what it's like to be in medical school, help with applications, and more!
In addition to national AMWA's webinars, our branch also hosts workshops and panels with healthcare professionals and students in professional school.
Every year, members are welcome to run for any Executive Board position they desire as all positions open up. In addition to those positions, members are able to join our committees or run as a committee leader.
