Academic Profile
Pursuing my MSc in Urban Design at [Salford University In Manchester UK] was a pivotal moment in both my academic and professional journey. Coming from a background in Architecture Engineering, I was eager to expand my perspective beyond the scale of individual buildings and explore how design decisions impact cities, communities, and the public realm.
The program offered a rich, interdisciplinary approach that combined architectural thinking with urban planning, landscape architecture, and social theory. I engaged in intensive studio work, where we tackled real-world urban challenges—ranging from regeneration of historic districts to designing resilient neighborhoods. These experiences sharpened my ability to think critically and systemically about the built environment.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the program was the emphasis on collaborative learning. I worked alongside peers from various disciplines and nationalities, which broadened my cultural understanding and helped me develop a more inclusive design approach. The international workshops and field visits provided exposure to diverse urban contexts, from high-density city centers to informal settlements.
In conclusion, Studying Urban Design at a postgraduate level was both intellectually challenging and personally enriching. It has greatly influenced how I mentor students today—encouraging them to think beyond technical solutions and consider the broader social, cultural, and environmental implications of their designs.
