Dear Bulldog Family,
This year, we are excited to offer a new Career Explorations course for all 7th graders that will culminate in a one-day job shadow, and we need your help!
In Career Explorations, students will…
Explore diverse industries and potential career paths.
Research specific careers of personal interest and the training they require.
Engage in a full-day job shadow experience with a professional in their chosen field.
This program has special meaning for me. My own middle school job shadow experience influenced me to embark on what became my 20-year career in the military prior to teaching. I hope these job shadows will similarly inspire our students.
Every career has value!
My goal is to create a database of parents, alumni, and community members willing to host a 7th grade student for a day.
WHO do we need? Every career has value, and every person has a unique way of contributing to our community. That’s why we need people from as many fields as possible!
WHAT will the students do?
Choose a few careers that interest them.
Fill out applications that we provide them.
Shadow a professional in a career that interests them.
WHAT will you do?
Review the applications of students that are interested in your career.
Select 1-2 students.
Host 1-2 students for part of your normal workday, allowing them to observe your work, ask questions, and learn about your career path.
WHEN will this happen? Late September or Early October. We will provide participating hosts with detailed information, expectations, and schedules well in advance. Then we will continue this process for each quarter. It could be up to four times for the school year that would ALL be in the last week or two of the quarter.
We’re looking for 40-60 professionals from as many different career fields as possible, which is why we need you! If you're interested in hosting a student, simply reply to this email with:
Your Name
Your Career / Job Title
Work Location
Any special requirements, restrictions, or information
Job shadows have the power to bring careers to life for students. They can also inspire students to work hard now in order to build the skills they will need for the futures they want tomorrow.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and their future success.
Best regards,
Rob Schuler

Student/Family Updates
Info and Reminders:
School starts at 8am. Make sure on the first day to get here early enough to swing by advising and get your chrome book and ID.
Parking still seems pretty tight this year. Plan to be here early, or park further out and walk. There are usually spots available in the middle school lot where I park!
IDs must be worn at all times. They now have your QR code printed right on them, and we will be using them to scan into the building in the mornings and after lunch.
Freshman need to stay on campus for lunch. You are welcome to eat in the patio, cafeteria, halls, outside on the picnic tables or at the stadium. Just stay on campus. Sophomors, juniors and seniors are welcome to stay as well, or you may leave campus at lunchtime.
Cell phones, air pods, smart watches, and smart glasses all need to be powered off and put away. You may use them at lunch only.
If your parents need to get ahold of you or get you a message during the day, they can call the office, or send you emails to your school email.
No personal laptops or chrome books. You need to use the school chrome books.
Attendance is a major focus this year. Make sure to have your parents call if you are going to miss school, and make sure to be in class and on time always!
Advising is back to every day! It will be after 2nd block this year.
Seniors, make sure to stay on top of all of your graduation requirements right away. Senior projects are much less stressful if you get them done early!
Check out the new high school library space between the elementary library and Mr. Daghestani's room!
Start strong with your grades. Those early assignments help build a good foundation for the rest of the semester!
During lunch and before and after school, please make sure to be good neighbors. Don't cut through the apartments or other private property spaces around the school, and make sure we don't leave trash in our neighborhood.
Class meetings will happen on the first four Mondays while we still have school during advising.
Club fair is coming sooner than you think. If you are in a club, make sure to talk about your recruiting plans.
If you need help with job shadows or internship, reach out to Mrs. Kern. She has tons of great contacts to share with you!
Staff Updates
Check your calendars for scheduled meetings.
Graduation!
I know this seems like a really long way out, but it will be here before you know it!
Graduation for the class of 2027 will be Friday, May 28th at 7pm in the stadium
Graduation practice will be at 10am on 5/28
UHS History
On the afternoon of June 5th, David Jones and I got to spend an hour with Janet Glidden Jerome who graduated in the College High class of 1956. Janet is celebrating 70 years since her graduation and is full of great stories of her time in high school at College High in Kepner Hall on the UNC campus. When she was five and six years old, she had her own dorm room in one of the halls where her mom was a dorm mother.
She shared one of her favorite memories of high school was when the elementary would do a sing-along on the first floor, and all of the junior and senior high students would watch from the balcony on the second floor. Janet was the chairman of the Junior Red Cross committee and shared about a fundraiser that was a predecessor to our penny wars. She was in choir, and played clarinet in the band, a member of National Honor Society, Pep Club, Student Leadership, Square Dancing Club and something called Mask and Sabre that appears to be the drama group.
Janet talked about meeting her future husband in their church youth group. She went on to become a business teacher in Kansas and Connecticut, and then a business owner with her husband here in Greeley for many years.
During her high school years, she ran around with three other girls, and they have remained close through all the years. The two living members of their group are still close friends today.
In 2016, Janet was recognized during homecoming as one of our distinguished alumni, and has been kind enough to give us some of her memorabilia from high school and some of their reunions over the years. She also gave us some yearbooks from the 1930's, and a school newspaper from 1932 called "Bulldog Tales" that were from the father of a friend. We are hoping to set up a display of the history of our school in the near future. If any of you are looking for a senior project and would be interested in helping me celebrate the history of our school, please reach out and let me know. I am also always interested in meeting alumni from our school and hearing their stories and some of the great things that have been in our school for over 125 years!
Go Bulldogs!
