LL.B (Hons) (Jaffna) LL.M (SAU, New Delhi), Attorney-at- Law Head/Law, Senior Lecturer Grade II Deputy Proctor, Faculty of Arts, UoJ Mrs. Thushani Shayanthan joined the permanent staff of the Department in 2012 and completed her Masters from South Asia University, New Delhi and from 2017 was promoted to Senior Lecturer Grade II. She previously taught on contract in the academic year 2011/2012. Her research interests are in Intellectual Property Law, Public International Law and the Law of the Sea. Mrs. Shayanthan serves on the Centre for Gender Equity and Equality and is regularly invited to sit on disciplinary inquiry panels by the Vice Chancellor. Deputy Proctor – Faculty of Arts. Mrs. Thushani Shayanthan is a member of the Board of Student Discipline of University of Jaffna andLegal Expert of the University Business Linkage of the University of Jaffna. Mrs. Thushani Shayanthan was a Former Member of the Center for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE) (served from December 2017 – January 2020). She also served as a Former Chairperson of the Grievance Committee / CGEE (2019) Served as a member in Adhoc Inquiry Committees for staff and students. Contributed to draft a Policy on the protection of Intellectual Property at the university level, drafted By-Laws relating to Student Discipline, drafted By-Laws to investigate and inquire Sexual and Gender Based Violence and Policy Framework for Gender Equity and Equality for the University.

MRS. KOSALAI MATHAN
LL.B (Hons) (Col) MPhil (Col), Attorney-at-Law Senior Lecturer Grade II President of the Jaffna University Teachers Association, Vice secretary/ Federation of University Teachers Association Mrs. Kosalai Mathan joined the Department in 2009 on contract basis and was appointed to the permanent staff in 2010. She completed her MPhil entitled' The Role of the Judiciary, Democratic Governance and Nation Building in Sri Lanka' under the supervision of Mr. N. Selvakkumaran, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo. Her research interests are in Constitutional Law, Administrative Law and Public Law in general. She has served as resource person for many governmental and non-governmental including the Constitutional Assembly of Sri Lanka. She was awarded with the title of best student from the Faculty of Law,University of Colombo based on her performance at law examinations. She was awarded with C.W.W.Kannangara memorial prize for achieving excellence in the G.C.E(A/L) examination held in 2003. She associates with various government and private organisations in the capacity of a resource person, consultant,facilitator, speaker, guest,panellist etc. for different forms of events organised on community based themes inter alia gender and violence, child rights, right to information, labour laws, constitutional advocacy.
MRS. PURATHANI MATHANARANJAN
LL.B (Hons) (Jaffna) Attorney-at-Law Lecturer (Probationary) (Currently she is reading MPhil at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo) Mrs. Purathanai Mathan joined the permanent staff in 2015 and is currently reading for an MPhil at the University of Colombo. She previously served as lecturer on contract basis for a year in 2013. Her research interests are in family law, the law of property and the broader area of Private Law.
MR. SIVANESAN PRADINATH
LL.B (Hons) (Jaffna), LL.M (Col)Lecturer (Probationary)Attorney-at-Law Contact: pradinaths@univ.jfn.ac.lk Mr. Pradinath joined the Department in 2016 and specialises in commercial law subjects with a special interest in Company Law. Previously he taught on contract basis in the year 2015. He completed his LL.M at the University of Colombo in the year of 2018. He submitted an extended essay in fulfillment of the requirement of the Degree of Master of Laws entitled “Corporate Abuses Under the Shield of Corporate Veil: A Critical Study of the Principle of Limited Liability And Veil of Incorporation” under the supervision of Dr. K. Kanag-Isvaran, President’s Counsel. Mr. Pradinath serves occasionally as staff advisor to our debating team and is also served as Department's student counsellor from the year 2018 - 2019. In 2019 he was elected as representative of the Probationary staff of Faculty of Arts at the Faculty Board, University of Jaffna. MISS. SUPASINI PAKKIYANATHAN
LL.B (Hons) (Jaffna), Attorney-at-LawLecturer (Probationary) Ms. Pakkiyanathan joined the Department in 2018. Her research interests are in environmental law and public law in general. Ms. Pakiyanathan coached the moot team of the department that was placed second in the National Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition held in 2018 and She coached a team comprising of three members representing Department of Law in the ICRC Henry Dunant Moot Court Competition in 2019, the team was placed second at the National Round and went to Regional Rounds held in Nepal. Ms. Pakkiyanathan serves as Department's Student Counsellor from February 2020 up to the date.
MISS. NIROGINI THAMBAIYA
LL.B (Hons) (Jaffna) LL.M (SAU, New Delhi)Attorney-at-LawLecturer (Probationary) Student Counsellor Ms. Thambaiya joined the Department in 2017. She has been served as Lecturer Temporary from January 2017 to August 2018. In August 2018, she has appointed to the Post of Lecturer (Probationary). Her research interests are in International Law, Private law, Criminal Law and related. Ms. Thambaiya serves occasionally as staff advisor to our debating team. She earned her Master of Laws Degree at the South Asian University, New Delhi India. She is currently serving as the Student Counsellor of the Department of Law.
LL.B (Hons) (Colombo), BCL (Oxon), PhD (University College London) Attorney-at-Law Former Head/Law, Senior Lecturer Grade IIContact: rkguruparan@univ.jfn.ac.lk Kumaravadivel Guruparan joined the Department in 2010 as a Lecturer (on Contract) and was appointed in September 2011 as a permanent staff member. He was promoted in 2016 as a Senior Lecturer. He is the recipient of two major scholarships - the Chevening Scholarship (2011) and the Commonwealth Scholarship (2013). He was awarded the Winter Williams Scholarship and the Oxford Pro Bono Publico Internship Fund Award by the University of Oxford. He won the Faculty Prize for best performance in 'Socio Economic Rights and Substantive Equality' from the Faculty of Law, University of Oxford. He was awarded the 'Dean's Most Outstanding Student of the Year's Award' by the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo in 2010. In 2004 he won the CWW Kannangara Award for best performance in the A/Level exams from the President of Sri Lanka. Dr. Guruparan served as Head Law from January 2017 - December 2019 and served as a Legal Consultant to the University between January - September 2018. He continues to provide input on an adhoc basis towards the regulation of the university's legal affairs. He is a member of the Faculty of Arts Curriculum Development Committee, Committee on Bifurication and serves as one of the Activity Coordinators for the Faculty's Proposal Committee for the World Bank sponsored AHEAD project. He is also regularly invited to sit on disciplinary inquiry panels by the Vice Chancellor. Dr. Guruparan is the founding Executive Director of Adayaalam Centre for Policy Research, a think tank based in Jaffna. He is a founder-member and Co-Spokesperson of the Tamil Civil Society Forum, which works towards recreating public spheres for dialogue on politics and public policy. He is also practicing attorney specialising in administrative law, civil appeals and human rights.
LL.B (Hons) Colombo, LL.M (Michigan) Vishakha Wijenayake is a Doctoral student at the Faculty of Law, University of McGill. She completed her LL.B. at University of Colombo and an LL.M. at University of Michigan Ann Arbor where she was a Fulbright scholar and a Hugo Grotius Fellow. She has worked as a lecturer in law at University of Jaffna and a visiting lecturer at University of Colombo. She also worked in the legal division of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Geneva as an associate and as a legal adviser in the ICRC delegation in Sri Lanka. Her interests include human rights, international humanitarian law, and transitional justice.
