Art History

The Art History stream in the Department of Fine Arts enables the students to follow either visual arts related career or a more general graduate job. With a degree in Art History and Aesthetics graduates have the foundations to work in a range of arts related jobs such as art historians, curators, art managers, heritage managers, art dealers, art teachers, art critics and art writers in galleries, museums, archives, conservation programmes, Media.

A degree from the department of Fine Arts provides the students with a number of transferable skills that can be applied to other types of professions. These include: research skills; written and oral communication skills; visual awareness; and specialized subject knowledge in Western Indian and Sri Lankan art history and the theories of Art.
