Mission

The mission of the Department of Animal Science of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka is to produce agriculture graduates of a high standard and to contribute to fulfilling the requirement of livestock production (and its produce) regionally, nationally, and globally.

Vision

The vision of the Department of Animal Science, by producing experts/ graduates specialized in animal husbandry, is rendering services to increase livestock production, eliminate malnutrition, create employment opportunities, increase profitability from this venture thus finally leads towards economic development of the community.

Focused Area of Study

The Department of Animal Science plays a vital role in establishing and managing the livestock industry regionally (Northern region) and nationally. The Department has been offering courses with the main intention of diverse livestock production and its processing. As such, the Department of Animal Science focuses on the following area of the study to achieve its target or goal or intention.
