The Department of Agricultural Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, organized a two-day hands-on workshop on plant-parasitic nematodes on 3rd and 4th September 2025. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Manjula Kularathna (Lincoln University, New Zealand) and coordinated by Dr. N. Thiruchchelvan, with the participation of staff and Agricultural Biology special students.
The program included a field visit to Mulankavil for soil and root sampling, followed by laboratory sessions on nematode extraction and identification techniques. A total of 26 students took part, gaining valuable practical exposure to nematology research methods.
The Department gratefully acknowledges Dr. Kularathna’s contribution to this successful event.
The Department of Agricultural Biology proudly took part in the Yarl Geek Challenge (YGC) 2025, organized by Yarl IT Hub on the 29th and 30th of August.
Over the two days, our students and staff came together to showcase innovative products, processes, and ideas. The experience, though demanding, was filled with energy and enthusiasm.
