The elementary students have a new specials schedule. Because of the rotating schedules, students will need to check the schedule to know which special they have on a particular day. On physical education days it is very important children wear appropriate clothing and shoes to insure maximum participation and safety.
Students receive instruction in a variety of activities. Some of these activities include: basketball, bowling, disc golf, floor hockey, football, juggling, jump rope, kickball/softball, low-organizational games, racket skills, rhythm/dance, soccer, swimming, track and field, and volleyball. Weather permitting, we also offer bicycling, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing to the upper grades. The younger students spend a great deal of time on basic locomotor movement, throwing, catching, and kicking skills.
All students participate in physical fitness testing at various times throughout the school year. We will be using the FitnessGram testing in all grades beginning in kindergarten. The FitnessGram test includes various tests to measure muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
