The Varanus komodoensis, as known as, Komodo Dragon, are reptiles originated from the Varanidae family being the largest lizards in the world. These 10 feet long 330lbs reptiles inhabit the islands of Indonesia and feed on almost anything that crosses it's path. The females have an evolutionary advantage by being able to asexually reproduce, however, when this occurs only male offspring are the result. This is causing the Komodo Dragons to suffer from population loss not even including other factors such as climate change, invasive species, and hunting. The Komodo Dragon was red listed endangered in 2019 and the population is said to be decreasing at this time. Conservationist's are working hard to advocate the importance the Komodo Dragons have on their habitat. They are on the top of the food chain providing population control of other species in their environment.
