The marine otter is known to be primarily monogamous however can be polyamorous. They are seen in groups, small groups. Breeding typically happens in December and January. [2]
Gestation is between 60 - 70 days with a litter of two to five pups. When the otter pup is born they stay with the mother for around 10 months. While they are taught to hunt and swim they can be seen on the mother's belly while floating. [2]
