Bridgman Fire Department, along with many of the fire departments in Berrien County is looking for new members! Joining the fire department is easy and it is a great way to learn skills that can be beneficial in all walks of life. There are two pathways that can be taken depending on your age. No experience is required! Come and visit us during our meeting nights, we meet the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month at 6PM.

Age 16 - 18
This is the best age to begin a career in the fire service! Through your local High School you can get involved with the Firefighter 1 and 2 class! You will graduate this class with a State Firefighter 1 and 2 certification and be eligible to join as a full member.
While enrolled in the class, and after the application process, come to meetings and trainings and begin to familiarize yourself with our equipment and members.

Over Age 18
After the application process is complete new members will have 2 years to become a certified firefighter. Berrien county offers a Firefighter 1 and 2 class every fall. The class includes a written and practical state exam and meets mostly on weekends for approximately 9 Months. While enrolled in class, new members are encouraged to participate in meetings and training to become familiar with tools and equipment.
