The National Doctoral Programme in Space Science and Technology - SST was launched in the academic year 2022-2023 as a collaboration of more than 30 Italian universities and research institutions, under the coordination of the University of Trento.
The SST Course is divided into the following eight curricula:
Curriculum 1: Observation of the Universe
Curriculum 2: Earth and the Sun-Earth system
Curriculum 3: Planetary Sciences
Curriculum 4: Astrobiology, Life Sciences and Space Medicine
Curriculum 5: Space sensing and instrumentation
Curriculum 6: Engineering and satellite platform technologies
Curriculum 7: Economics, law and space diplomacy
Curriculum 8: Gravitation (*)
(*) New Curriculum , starting from 2025-2026 a.y. (41st Cycle)
The National Days are organised on an annual rotating basis at the various partner Institutions of the SST Programme.
The first edition of the National Days took place in Trento on 4 and 5 July 2023.
The second edition took place in L'Aquila on 6-8 June 2024 and was organised by GSSI and the University of L'Aquila in collaboration with INFN-LNGS, Thales Alenia Space Italy and Fondazione Gran Sasso Tech.
All enrolled PhD students attend the events, members of the PhD Board, supervisors and co-supervisors, and representatives of the partner institutions, thus providing the students with the opportunity to meet and share their experience.
