Domestic Duty Max
The above duty time provisions are based on the Flight Attendant’s Home Domicile Time (HDT).
*1900-0459 - Limited to no more than seven hours (7:00) flight time (scheduled), unless the duty period contains a single segment, in which case the single segment may exceed seven (7:00) hours of flight time; scheduled ground time no greater than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30) and no more than one flight segment after a red-eye flight. A redeye flight is one with any portion scheduled to operate from 0200 to 0400, local time.
**A High Value Trip (HVT) shall be limited to a single duty period starting between 0500 and 1859, containing no more than three (3) flight segments with a total flight time of nine hours (9:00) or more.
International Duty Max
Mixed Pairings
The Company may build Mixed Pairings that contain both domestic and international flights in accordance with Section 7.Y.1.
For pure domestic duty period, use Dom Duty Max & Rest rules
For pure international duty period, use International Duty Max & Rest rules
For duty periods with both domestic and international segments, use International Max & Rest
How to Calculate Legalities (FA Door Closure)
Below is a simple formula that applies to all domestic duty times and all international duty times with the exception of the “Non-Stop 12:01 or over” category which is calculated in the chart above.
Formula:
Start with your Max Actual on Duty (as determined by the chart above)
Subtract (-) your Scheduled Duty for this duty period (as found in your pairing marked "scheduled", not "updated")
(The time difference between these two is how much time you have to play with before going illegal*)
Next, add (+) that time difference to your Scheduled Departure Time (as found in your pairing marked "scheduled", not "updated")
This is your latest legal door closure or FA Door Closure as displayed in Volare Flight Feed. One (1) minute past that time and you are no longer legal for that flight.

*Remember, because we may become illegal for a specific pairing or duty period does not mean that we may not be eligible for subsequent reassignment to another flight for which we may be legal. For example, while there might be a circumstance where one could become illegal for an international flight, it is possible that one might be reassigned to a shorter domestic flight that can be concluded within the contractual duty time limits.
Additionally, when we become illegal to complete the flight assignment, within the contractual duty time limits for the duty period, we may be asked to remain with passengers until a replacement crew arrives plane side provided the company complies with the holding time limitations of our Contract
Legal Rest
Domestic Rest Provisions
Domestic Layover Legal Rest MUST include:
11 hours free from duty (FFD) when hotel is approximately MORE than 15 minutes from the airport
10 hours (FAA minimum) FFD when hotel is approximately 15 minutes or less from the airport
8 hours at place of lodging minimum (on hotel property)
Additionally, if room is not ready within 30 minutes, you may self help to another hotel (8 hours POL minimum resets)
Domestic Home Legal Rest MUST include:
12 hours FFD
Reserves - must have 11 hours free from contact (if interrupted by Crew Scheduling you may call them back any time within the rest period to restart the 12 hour rest at the time of interruption)
Lineholders - 12 hours may be waived down to 10 through trip trade or pickup
International Rest Provisions
NOTE: When flights are operationally delayed, Crew Scheduling may relocate crews from downtown or downtown-like hotels to hotels closer to the airport in order to comply with the Place of Lodging requirements
Note: Upon returning from a pairing of more than five (5) days, a Reserve Flight Attendant shall be guaranteed twenty-four (24) hours regardless of the amount of flight time in the last duty period, unless Paragraph 2 above provides for greater rest .
