Domestic Duty Max

The above duty time provisions are based on the Flight Attendant’s Home Domicile Time (HDT).


*1900-0459 - Limited to no more than seven hours (7:00) flight time (scheduled), unless the duty period contains a single segment, in which case the single segment may exceed seven (7:00) hours of flight time; scheduled ground time no greater than two hours and thirty minutes (2:30) and no more than one flight segment after a red-eye flight. A redeye flight is one with any portion scheduled to operate from 0200 to 0400, local time.


**A High Value Trip (HVT) shall be limited to a single duty period starting between 0500 and 1859, containing no more than three (3) flight segments with a total flight time of nine hours (9:00) or more.

The Company may build Mixed Pairings that contain both domestic and international flights in accordance with Section 7.Y.1.

How to Calculate Legalities (FA Door Closure)


Below is a simple formula that applies to all domestic duty times and all international duty times with the exception of the “Non-Stop 12:01 or over” category which is calculated in the chart above.


Formula: 


(The time difference between these two is how much time you have to play with before going illegal*)



This is your latest legal door closure or FA Door Closure as displayed in Volare Flight Feed. One (1) minute past that time and you are no longer legal for that flight.

*Remember, because we may become illegal for a specific pairing or duty period does not mean that we may not be eligible for subsequent reassignment to another flight for which we may be legal. For example, while there might be a circumstance where one could become illegal for an international flight, it is possible that one might be reassigned to a shorter domestic flight that can be concluded within the contractual duty time limits.


Additionally, when we become illegal to complete the flight assignment, within the contractual duty time limits for the duty period, we may be asked to remain with passengers until a replacement crew arrives plane side provided the company complies with the holding time limitations of our Contract

NOTE: When flights are operationally delayed, Crew Scheduling may relocate crews from downtown or downtown-like hotels to hotels closer to the airport in order to comply with the Place of Lodging requirements

Note: Upon returning from a pairing of more than five (5) days, a Reserve Flight Attendant shall be guaranteed twenty-four (24) hours regardless of the amount of flight time in the last duty period, unless Paragraph 2 above provides for greater rest .
