The course at Parkside Junior High School is host to the IESA State Cross Country meet and measures 2.0 miles in length, stretching across the PJHS campus and Maxwell Park (Town of Normal). Improvements were made in 2021 to add permanent markers but still provides the flexibility to host youth, IESA, IHSA, Collegiate, and recreational events.
Parking is available in several locations around the course to include Parkside Elementary School, Champion Fields, Maxwell Park (handicap only), Normal West High School, and streets surrounding the Parkside Junior High--pay attention to posted signs for No Parking areas as your vehicle will be ticketed and/or towed at the owner's expense.
ATTENTION: If you are planning on walking the course on Friday, 9/5/25, please do not arrive until after 4 PM. The school will be releasing students at 3:45 pm and we need the parking lot reserved for parent pick up and our buses.
Thank you for your cooperation!
*Please instruct all buses to arrive from the North end of Parkside Road if possible. Ideally, we'd like to have all large buses unload in the yellow zone, with smaller buses and vans unloading in the green zone. Please have students and coaches ready to depart and unload when they arrive. These zones are not for parking but are intended for unloading and pick-up only. When the event concludes, have the coaches request their bus for pickup only after the team camp is packed up and ready to load out.
