Q: What do you do everyday in French class?
A: Everyday is different. Each unit is comprised of a vocabulary and grammar unit, along with a cultural theme. We learn through guided notes, games, hands-on activities, food, puzzles, and arts and crafts as well as using authentic materials to enhance our learning.
Q: Can anyone take French?
A: Yes! French class is for anyone interested in learning about the language and culture.
Q: What are the assessments like in French?
A: The assessments focus on reading, writing, listening, speaking, and culture. Sometimes they are traditional tests and other times they are projects where students get to create something using the language and culture.
Q: Do you take trips to France/other French speaking places?
A: Yes! There is a trip to France being planned for summer 2024! Stay tuned for more information!
Q: Which is harder - French, Spanish or German?
A: The languages are equally difficult and study the similar grammar and vocab topics. The things that make them different are the cultural topics that are studied.
Q: How many years of a language do I need to take?
A: There is no language requirement to graduate. Look ahead to your plans after high school; look into colleges and universities that you are interested in. Some universities have a language requirement for entrance. If you plan on taking a language, we recommend that you take at least two years.
Q: What's the minimum amount of a language that I should take?
A: Consider that colleges have different minimum admission standards so don’t let language be a barrier to getting into your dream college. Each school is different but here are a few examples:

French Club meets after school, the 3rd Wednesday of every month. French Club is open to anyone who is interested in francophone culture. French Club has a movie night, a pétanque game and hot chocolate, trivia, food tastings, and participates in the foreign language department's annual gingerbread house competition.
