Unit 5 Music Parents Extravaganza

Monday, November 11th

We are excited to announce the 2025 Music Extravaganza fundraiser and concert series, proudly sponsored by the Unit

5 Music Parents Association and the Unit 5 Music Department.

Honors Choir Auditions

Thursday, October 16th

Tuesday, October 21st

Honors Choir is open to any 7th or 8th grade chorus student, by audition only. The group is extra-curricular and rehearses every Thursday, from 3:45-5:00. This ensemble performs at all regularly scheduled concerts, one spring contest and other outside events as opportunities arise.

EJHS Performance Polos

2025-26

7th & 8th grade choir students will wear black, EJHS Music polo shirts for every performance. Shirts are $20 and may be purchased through an online store linked HERE . The store will be open until Friday (9/5) at 8:00 AM.

UPDATE: Shirts have been distributed to students effective 9/25.

Men's Glee Club Field Trip

Saturday, November 1, 2025

4:30 pm

All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys in chorus are invited to attend our field trip to watch the University of Illinois Varsity Men's Glee Club Dad's Day concert on Saturday, November 1st, at 7:30 pm. The concert takes place at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana, IL.

Registration info coming soon!

All 6th, 7th & 8th grade boys in chorus. Parents/guardians are invited to join us, and will need to pay the $30-40 trip cost.

We will enjoy dinner together at Papa Del's Pizza before attending the concert at Krannert Center.

Payment will be due Friday, October 24th. Please make checks payable to your student's school.

About the director...

Mrs. Julia Beer has directed the choral program at Evans Junior High, since 2019. She holds a B.S. in Music Education as well as an M.M.E. in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Entering her 25th year of teaching, she has served as a high school choral director, junior high choral director and elementary general music instructor throughout the state of Illinois.
She has served as an instructor for the Illinois Summer Youth Music Program at the University of Illinois and as conductor for the Junior Chorus in 2022 & 2025. She currently serves the Illinois Music Educators Association as the Co-Chair for the District 3 Junior Chorus. She is a private piano instructor and has worked as a conductor, adjudicator and clinician for various contests and festivals throughout the state.
