2025 Illinois Summer Youth Music (ISYM) Registration is NOW OPEN!

After an incredible summer last year, we're thrilled to announce our return with Junior Chorus:

University of Illinois Women's Glee Club Concert

Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

Urbana, IL

We will travel together for lunch at Papa Del's Pizza in Champaign, before heading to the concert at Krannert Center.

Meet: Kingsley Junior High

Time: 10:10 AM

Return: 5:30-6:00 pm

Cost: $30-40 (depending on the number of students attending)

Transportation, meal and concert all included in the price.

Please register no later than Thursday, March 6th. Please use the form linked HERE
We will announce the final price once registration closes.
Payment will be due no later than Tuesday, March 18th.
Checks payable to EJHS.

This trip is first come, first served. Please note that registration may close before the form date!

Parents/guardians are invited to join us, and will need to purchase a ticket as well.

Unit 5 Choral Showcase

Monday, March 17th

Normal Community West High School

6:30 PM

Students will be bussed from EJHS to Normal West that afternoon, for collaborating and music making with other Unit 5 Choir students and staff.

Students have the opportunity to order Jimmy Johns for dinner, and those forms and payments are due to Mrs. Beer by Friday, March 7th.

Students should wear their black EJHS Choir uniform for this event.

REMINDER: The order forms from our current fundraiser are due back to Mrs. Beer by THIS FRIDAY.....January 24th!

DELIVERY: Will take place the week of February 17-21.

2/24 UPDATE: All Fundraiser items have been collected by students. Please be sure to deliver to the people who ordered from you, as soon as possible! If you find that any of your items are missing, or you received something in error, please communicate this to Mrs. Beer ASAP!

Students received materials for our 2025 Choir Fundraiser this past Friday! While I hate fundraising with every fiber of my soul, I LOVE creating great experiences for our Evans singers.... and they cost money. 😊

Unit 5 Music Parents

Music Extravaganza Concert

7th and 8th grade choirs will be performing at the U5MP Music Extravaganza on Monday, November 11th. This event is held at Normal Community High School and students should report to Room 50 at 7:15 p.m. They will perform in the auditorium at 8:00 p.m. There is no charge to attend this performance.

Families were given the opportunity to pre-order pie and cinnamon rolls as part of this fundraising event. If you were not able to order in advance, a limited number of tickets may be purchased at the door.

Evans Choirs 6th Grade Performance Tees

Please use the link HERE, to purchase a performance shirt for your student. The shirts are $18, and only available in our online store. The store is open from October 7-11.

The shirts will be delivered to the school in time for our December concert.

EJHS Performance Polos

2024-25

7th & 8th grade choir students will wear black, EJHS Music polo shirts for every performance. Shirts are purchased through an online store linked HERE. The store will be open until Monday (9/16) at 8:00 AM.

Men's Glee Club Field Trip

Saturday, November 2nd 2024

4:30 pm

All 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys in chorus are invited to attend our field trip to watch the University of Illinois Varsity Men's Glee Club Dad's Day concert on Saturday, November 2nd, at 7:30 pm. The concert takes place at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in Urbana, IL.

All 6th, 7th & 8th grade boys in chorus. Parents/guardians are invited to join us, and will need to pay the $20-30 trip cost.

We will enjoy dinner together at Papa Del's Pizza before attending the concert at Krannert Center.

Payment is due no later than Monday, October 1st. Please make checks payable to your student's school.

About the director...

Mrs. Julia Beer has directed the choral program at Evans Junior High, since 2019. She holds a B.S. in Music Education as well as an M.M.E. in Music Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Entering her 31st year of teaching, she has served as a high school choral director, junior high choral director and elementary general music instructor throughout the state of Illinois.
She has served as an instructor for the Illinois Summer Youth Music Program at the University of Illinois and as conductor for the Junior Chorus in 2022. She currently serves the Illinois Music Educators Association as the Co-Chair for the District 3 Junior Chorus. She is a private piano instructor and has worked as a conductor, adjudicator and clinician for various contests and festivals throughout the state.
