Chiddix Clubs

2021-2022


Art Club –Mrs. Vincent

  • For 6th and 7th Graders only, limit 25.

  • 1st Semester (September - December)--8:00-8:40AM every Wednesday we are in school except on late-start days.

  • Fee: $30 for the semester per person (covers the cost of all supplies used) checks made out to Chiddix Junior High School

Caudills and More Book Club - Mrs. Glatt

  • September - May

  • This book club will start by exploring books on the Rebecca Caudill list and then we’ll decide as a team which books we will read together throughout the year

  • Additional book-related games and activities will take place throughout the year.


Chess Club –Mr. Phillips

  • September - March

  • Students learn about chess strategies, play games, and eventually we will send a team to the IESA State Tournament.


Girls Who Code –Ms. Nuding

  • September - May

  • Meetings are usually on Thursdays from 3:45-4:30

  • This club’s purpose is to become more competent in coding while also celebrating the accomplishments of females in coding industries. Participants will practice coding and will create a project that they code themselves. This club is targeted to those that identify as female and/or are looking to support female empowerment.


GSA –Mrs. Komnick

  • September - April

  • Meetings are usually from 3:45-4:45 every other Tuesday afternoon for all 6th - 8th grade students.

  • Fun community gathering time to share our thoughts and talk about topics related to LGBTQ diversity, tolerance and acceptance.


NIOS –Ms. Castrejon

  • September - May

  • Meetings are usually from 3:45-4:15 every other Monday afternoon for all 6th - 8th grade students.

  • Discuss topics and ways to eliminate bullying and racism within our school through fun activities that include representation from Not in Our Town of McLean County.

  • Community involvement opportunities


Drama Club –Ms. Peoples

  • October - Early March--Then in March, auditions begin for the play which will take place in May.

  • This is an extracurricular activity for all 6th-8th graders. The purpose of Drama Club is to give students an opportunity to learn about acting, play production and stage work.

  • After auditions, the members will consist of two groups--the play cast and stage crew.

  • Fee: $30 (this fee covers the production costs and a drama club t-shirt)


Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) –Ms. Carey

  • This is a bi-weekly club that encourages Christian spiritual growth through fellowship, games, and lessons taught by fellow Chargers.

  • Meetings are usually from 3:45-4:45 on Tuesday afternoons.

  • You don’t need to be an athlete to attend. All meetings are open to all Chiddix Chargers.


MathCounts –Mrs. Soliday

  • October - March (once a week)

  • All students that decide to join Chiddix Math Counts will be given the opportunity to engage in mathematics in ways that are both fun and challenging.

  • Members who qualify will compete in live, in-person contests against and alongside their peers through local and state competitions.


Student Council –Mrs. Peoples

  • Late September - May (once a week)

  • Meeting times are 3:45-5:00. Sometimes we go till 5:30 pm

  • There is an application process in mid-September if you are interested in being considered for this club.

  • This is an organization conducted by students and supervised by the sponsor. This club is the voice of the student body at Chiddix and helps to share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.

  • The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects in addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare.


Team Quest –Mrs. Hinshaw

  • Students can participate in Team Quest throughout the entire school year. Meetings are every Monday alternating between 6th grade one Monday, and 7th/8th grade the following Monday from 3:45-5:15 in Room 313.

  • Team Quest is a club designed to challenge students to demonstrate their academic ability, engineering skills and creativity along with promoting teamwork.

Black Student Union-Mrs. Peoples and Mr. Childers

  • Starts Late September-May

  • Meeting times usually 3:45-4:45

  • BSU is an organization that is dedicated to encouraging cultural diversity and provides a safe and fun environment that engages students in discussing important topics that affect the community.
