What is the Hamilton County Schools Foundation?
Established in 2002, the foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to enhance the education of present and future students of Hamilton County Schools through voluntary contributions from individuals, businesses, civic organizations and alumni.
Why do Hamilton County Schools need private support?
Hamilton County Schools are and have been, for many years, a source of well-educated people. Today being good is not enough. State and local government support provides only the minimum.
As Ernest Hood, past principal and superintendent often said,
"We don't want our students to just be the best, we want them to be the very best."
Private support is vital to providing the flexibility needed to build sound educational and extra-curricular programs. The foundation can provide money for enriching activities that often cannot be funded by the district. By supporting the school system through private gifts, donors are making an investment that will be repaid over and over again by increasing the quality of the education experience at our schools.
