APAC Tournament Format
After Preliminary Play:
1. 1st vs. 2nd
3rd vs. 4th
5th vs. 6th
Organization of Tournament:
First and Second Day – Round-robin play
Third Day – Completion of Round-robin play, followed by games for 5th/6th, game for 3rd Place and the Championship game.
All scheduled matches in an APAC team sport tournament must be played, weather permitting. Request for forfeits may not be entertained.
Teams forced into a back-to-back game situation during the transition from the round robin to play-offs are given a 30-minute rest period before the 15-minute warm-up begins.
APAC will not allow video review, in any sport, for officiating purposes.
Tournament Equipment
The official ball needs to be identified, as per APAC guidelines, one year in advance. The high- end Spalding TF-1000 has been, traditionally, the preferred model.
Medical Protocol
Based on accepted Return to Play Protocols, each host school’s head medical personnel (assigned for the tournament) will determine return to play for suspected concussions and any other injuries. This assessment will be binding.
If a head injury occurs during an event that requires the player to be removed from the court or field, that player must sit out for a minimum of 10 mins before being assessed and allowed to reenter the game.
APAC Tiebreaker Procedure
Head-to-head
Point differential for all round-robin games of tied teams (no credit for more than 20-pt. difference/game) (May 2025)
Coin toss
Note:
APAC Tiebreaker Procedure
Each sport will have a sport specific tiebreaker procedure. When head to head results in APAC team sport protocol does not settle a three or more team tie, then the tie-break differential list above will decide the outcome. If at one of the differential steps, the order of the three or more tied teams is established, the tie has been broken. However, if the differential list promotes or demotes one team and leaves two teams still tied (on whichever differential had been applied to promote/demote one team), then the head to head results amongst the remaining two teams will decide order of placement. (October 2023)
Inter-Event Communication
In the interest of keeping communication lines open between APAC Divisional sites, all key issues raised by coaches or fine arts directors and proposals for changes in policy or procedures are to be submitted by 5:00pm on the day prior to the last day of the event. That updated agenda is shared with the other venue if required.
