The one-day meeting 'SCI 2023 - Scientific Calculus for Innovation' has as its objective the presentation of research activities of the Numerical Analysis Laboratory of the University of Salerno and related topics for thesis and internship. Applications of Scientific Calculus in several areas of applied sciences will be presented.
The invited speakers belong to several research centers and universities, and have different backgrounds (chemistry, computer science, engineering, linguistics, mathematics). They will show research activities carried out in collaboration with some members of the Numerical Analysis Laboratory, as well as new ongoing researches, highlighting the links with Scientific Calculus and enriching the discussion with contaminations of knowledge, giving the opportunity for the emergence of new ideas, collaborations and internship proposals. Some bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. students of the University of Salerno will present their thesis and internship work.
The involved research centers and universities are
the ENEA research centers of Portici and Rome;
the ICT Center for Cultural Heritage of the University of Salerno;
the Departments of Computer Science, Industrial Engineering and Mathematics of the University of Salerno;
the Department of Engineering and Information Sciences and Mathematics of the University of L'Aquila;
the Department of Physical, Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Siena;
the Department of Sciences and Technologies of the Parthenope University of Naples;
the Department of World Languages and Literatures of the Southern Connecticut State University.
The meeting topics include
efficient numerical methods for environmental models;
machine learning approaches for managing industrial, security and other processes;
modeling and numerical methods for interaction between individuals and information/misinformation spread and detection;
promotion, fruition and conservation of cultural heritage;
technologies to improve quality of life in cities.
This event is organized by the Numerical Analysis Laboratory (AN Lab.), Department of Mathematics, University of Salerno.
The meeting organization is supported by GNCS-INDAM project and by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR), through the PRIN 2020 project (No. 2020JLWP23) “Integrated Mathematical Approaches to Socio-Epidemiological Dynamics” and the PRIN 2017 project (No. 2017JYCLSF) “Structure preserving approximation of evolutionary problems”.
The meeting will take place in Laboratory P12 (F3 Building), Department of Mathematics, University of Salerno.
Address: Via Giovanni Paolo II, 132 - 84084 Fisciano (SA), Italy.
