Special session A19
23-24 July 2024
Palermo (Italy)
Self-similarity plays an important role in group theory, particularly in many major developments around growth, amenability and torsion. These groups are naturally fractal in nature, the Grigorchuk group being a guiding example. There has been a number of developments in this area in recent years, including some recent breakthroughs in difficult open questions. Nevertheless, many important questions remain unresolved. As current knowledge and techniques have become vast, the goal of this session is to bring together the leading researchers in the area to share ideas and spawn new creative endeavors.
