Bio & Curriculum

Born in Augusta (SR), 7 May 1986, married with Giusy (from 2016), two children Vittorio (2018) and Giorgio (2020). Since October 2022, he is Professor of Public Economics at the Sapienza University in Rome. He studied Economics at Bocconi University in Milan (B.Sc.), Political Science at the University of Milan (M.Sc.), then Public Economics at the University of York in the UK (M.Sc.); and he earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Catania (Italy).

From 2020 to 2022, he was Professor of Public Economics at the University of Catania, Department of Law. Since June 2016, he has been working as Tax Economist at the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (Department of Finance). Starting from 2019, he is Associate Fellow at the Tax Administration Research Centre University of Exeter (UK). Previously, he was research assistant at the University of Catania (2014-2016); and at the J.F. Kennedy School Harvard University (2012-2013). He also worked as Economist at the Ernst & Young Government and Public Sector Division in Rome (2010-2015). His academic teaching experience includes courses at the Sapienza University of Rome (2017-19), and at the OECD Multilateral Tax Centre Yangzhou in China (2017). He spent study and research periods at: Paris Dauphine (2009-10); University of York (2011-16); University of Portsmouth (2017-18). He received the National Scientific Qualification as Full Professor in Public Economics and Associate Professor in Economic Policy; Public Economics; Applied Economics, Statistics and Economics.

From 2017 to 2022, he was responsible for the projects funded with the Structural Reform Support Program - DG Reform of the European Commission at the Department of Finance of the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance; since 2019, projects have been developed with the support of the World Bank and Ecomod. Since 2019, he has been working as national expert at the OECD Tax Gap Community of Practice. Previously, he was national expert at the Tax Gap Project Group of the European Commission (2017-18), and at the Code of Conduct Group on Business Taxation of the Council of the European Union (2017-18). He has served as support member of the Department of Finance at the National Committee responsible for the Report on unobserved economy, tax and social security contribution evasion (2016-20), and at the National Committee responsible for the Report on tax expenditures (2016-17).
