Sapienza’s Management Engineering graduates

The master’s degree programme in Management Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome aims to provide advanced knowledge and develop high-level skills that integrate the technological and design-oriented content typical of engineering disciplines with a thorough understanding of the economic and managerial aspects of decision-making issues within organisations. To this end, the programme explores in depth and critically examines the methods and models adopted as well as the analytical and intervention tools employed in the management of complex systems characterised by a high level of interaction between technological evolution, the structure of markets in which businesses operate, and the competitive strategies they adopt.

In particular, graduates in Management Engineering are able to play a key role in both strategic and operational decision-making within organisations, by virtue of their ability to effectively and efficiently apply methodologies drawn from economic analysis, management, operations research, and information technology to the identification and resolution of issues linked to the design, organisation, and management of production systems for goods and services.

The educational objectives of this master’s degree programme are achieved through a study plan characterised by an initial common core, consisting of a set of core courses, which is subsequently complemented by a range of elective courses organised into coherent alternative tracks aimed at deepening specific economic, technological, and methodological aspects.

In particular, the programme offers the following five curricula: ‘Organization and Management’ (international reference area: ‘Organization and Management’); ‘Industrial Systems Management’ (international reference area: ‘Smart Operations Management’); ‘Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology’ (international reference area: ‘Economics and Management of Innovation and Technology’); ‘Methods and Models for Decision Support’ (international reference area: ‘Optimization and Decision Science’); ‘Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in Management’.

The first four curricula include a set of core courses taught in Italian and are complemented by specific elective modules, some delivered in Italian and others in English. The fifth curriculum, ‘Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics in Management’, is entirely delivered in English, including its compulsory courses.

The academic programme is structured in a way as to enable the identified professional profiles to find employment both in companies operating at national and multinational level across different sectors involved in the production of goods and services (such as, for example: management consulting; energy; financial markets, banking and insurance; transport and logistics; information technology; electronics and telecommunications; mechanical engineering; marketing and commercial distribution), and within public administration. Furthermore, graduates in Management Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome may pursue further academic specialisation through second-level postgraduate Master’s courses or PhD programmes strictly related to the Master’s degree programme.
