The Careless Lovers/Amanti spensierati
edited and translated by Alba Graziano, Fabio Ciambella, Bianca Del Villano, Iolanda Plescia, Valentina Rossi, and Rossana Sebellin (2024)
IRGORD is proud to announce the first publication in the brand-new series Teatro inglese di Seicento e Settecento, published by Bulzoni (https://www.bulzoni.it/it/collane/teatro-inglese-di-seicento-e-settecento/results,1-0) and directed by Prof. Alba Graziano. Within the IRGORD group , six translators challenged themselves by producing a collaborative translation of The Careless Lovers (1673), a comedy by Edward Ravenscroft. They combined their voices, experiences, and diverse linguistic and cultural sensibilities in an in-depth discussion of this brilliant play, in which two young protagonists navigate a society strictly focused on marriage as a means of transferring wealth, ultimately rewriting the rules of love.
