The Climate Walk Conosci e Agisci (Know and Act) as part of the INU workshop for Jane'walk was considered worthy of mention as it best reflected Jane Jacobs' vision.
8-13 September 2025
The central theme of the workshop is the design of a ‘climate shelter’ to promote strategies for mitigating the effects of climate change. The workshop involves the creation of an exemplary shaded and resilient public space capable of offering relief during heat waves and improving the quality of urban life.
Through an intensive, interdisciplinary experience involving students, teachers and the local community, the workshop aims to provide tools and skills for the co-design and construction of a small, permeable, multifunctional and welcoming structure that promotes people's physical and social well-being, with a particular focus on the most critical summer periods.

Integrated multi-scalar strategies for urban resilience: methodologies, case studies, and results for the built environment
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the study day aims to present the various ongoing research regarding integrated multi-scalar strategies for urban resilience in relation to climate change mitigation and adaptation. Ongoing research projects focusing on the above issues will be presented and discussed, illustrating methodologies, case studies and results.
We presented our work "inURBECitizens Projects" and "Pocket parks: case studies and historical functional development toward resilience"
September 9-12, 2024
Participation to the 2024 Conference SDEWES, 19th Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES)
SDEWES "is dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge on methods, policies and technologies for increasing the sustainability of development by de-coupling growth from the use of natural resources and by a transition to a knowledge-based economy. All taking into account the economic, environmental and social pillars of sustainable development." (Conference page)
We presented our work "Small Urban Parks for Urban Resilience: A Computational Approach in a Parametric Environment to Mitigate Multi-Objective Climate-Related Extremes in Mediterranean Cities".

Participation to the 2024 Conference of the Italian Society of Urban Planners (SIU)
The conference of the Italian Society of Urban Planners (SIU) "New Territorial Ecologies: Co-inhabiting Changing Worlds," held in Naples on June 12-14, 2024, focuses on the national debate on the contribution of urban planning to defining and sustainably and equitably co-inhabiting a territory increasingly threatened by climate change.
During the conference, there was the opportunity to present various ongoing research projects. It was deemed necessary, therefore, to participate in session 5 "Gaia, Territories of Biodiversity," with the contribution "Preliminary Evidence of the Effectiveness of Pocket Gardens for the Environmental and Social Resilience of Urban Spaces."
Participation in the fourteenth Biennale of European Towns and Town Planners organized by the European Council of Spatial Planners-Conseil Européen des Urbanistes (ETCP-CEU) and the Italian National Institute of Urban Planning will take place in Naples (at the Department of Architecture of the University of Federico II, between Palazzo Gravina on Via Monteoliveto 3 and the venue on Via Forno Vecchio 36) from April 22 to 24.
