Some examples of the laboratory experiences
SFERA Experiment. Built and operated at Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati of INFN, it was moved to our lab recently. It is a 4pi calorimeter made of scintillanting crystals able to detector MeV photons, study angular correlations
CYGNO image of natural radioactivity detected with a gas Time Projection Chamber. This gas chamber includes Gas Electron Multipiers (GEM) and very sensitive CMOS camera. Ultra-rare events searches (as dark matter searches ) are being developed with this technology. Students will be host of the Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati for this experience.
Studying the hardware architecture of very performing computing systems. GPU and FPGA programming is one of the possible experimental activity of the Phys lab II course.
UV laser operated at the Segrè laboratory for gas detector calibration. With the LASGAS experience students are operating gas detectors with different gas mixture to study their performance to detect charged particles.
