Partner: INFN-Laboratori Nazionali Frascati & Sapienza University of Rome

The present project has been aimed at addressing a problem of paramount importance for workers safety and public health, i.e. the rapid strategy for the identification, detection and monitoring of airborne pathogens dispersed in the workplace.

It is considered as a priority the development of specific, robust and reliable sensors able to provide identification and real time measurements allowing a rapid decision-making process in case of exposure.

This challenge has been faced in synergic collaboration between INFN-Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati and Sapienza University (Department of Physics). The goal of DEUPAS has been the design of a reusable concentrator/sensor, manufactured with meso- and/or nano- porous materials, adsorbs/samples pathogens effectively and selectively, interrogable with THz/IR radiation for agent identification and evaluation through ultrasensitive vibrational spectroscopy.
