Prof. Ing. Claudio Alimonti, born in Rome, is Associate Professor since 1/11/2008.
Degree in Mining Engineering, from January 1989 to May 1990 he covered the position of Chercheur at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). Works since 1990 at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" - Dept. ICMA. He obtained the title of Docteur en Sciences Appliquées at the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) in 1995 and he has been Associate Professor since 2005.
In 2011 he took part in the establishment of the 3FASE srl, a university spin off, together with some students and an industrial partner. The business idea is based on the results of 15 years of research in the academic field on systems for measuring the flow rate of hydrocarbon mixtures in production plants.
In 2016 it proposes the establishment of a university start-up called Soilmixing srl together with a new group of researchers and PhD students with the desire to disseminate the results obtained in the development of soilmixing techniques for soil consolidation and for implementation in geothermal systems at order to reduce construction costs.
Since 1992 he has had educational and scientific exchange relations with the Technische Universiteit of Eindhoven (TUe, The Netherlands), finalized within the ERASMUS project. From 2000 to 2002 Prof. Ing. Alimonti held a 30-hour course on "Introduction to Petroleum Engineering".
Within the same teaching activity, Prof. Ing. Alimonti, has held lectures and seminars at:
- the University of Basilicata (Potenza) on "Research and production of hydrocarbons and environmental risk";
- the SAFE Master on "Petroleum Engineering: from the field to the market";
- University Master "Energy and Environmental Management" on "Oil cycle and technological innovation";
- as part of a Training Course on "Monitoring and Management of Environmental Issues for Public Administrations";
- the University of Basilicata as part of the Master in "Environmental Protection in the Processes of Production and Management of Subsoil Fluids - AFLUSO", entrusting the teaching "Transportation of Hydrocarbons";
- Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria as part of the Master's Degree Course in Urban and Territorial Planning for the Training of an Expert in Planning on "Analysis, management and planning of groundwater resources".
Since 2015 he has taught the lessons on "Geothermal Energy" in the habit of the second level Master's Degree in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sources of which he is a member of the Didactic and Scientific Council.
In 2011, it started collaborating with TU Clausthal in Germany on the development of innovative systems for energy production from geothermal sources. The collaboration saw the signing of a bilateral exchange program financed by the U.E. within the Erasmus project, of which Prof. Alimonti is responsible.
In January 2016 he held the lessons of the "Direct use / Heat pump" module for a total of 30 hours in the Master of Geothermal Engineering at the TU Clausthal in e-learning mode.
In 2016 he was appointed member of the Geothermic Working Group of the Ministry of Industry and Economic Development to implement the parliamentary questions of 15 April 2015 with the drafting of guidelines for the use of the medium and high enthalpy geothermal resources.
He is a reviewer of international journals (Journal of petroleum science and technology, Flow measurement and instrumentation, Energy Policy, Renewable Energy, etc.). He is a member of the Society Petroleum Engineers (SPE), of GEAM and of the Italian Geothermal Union (UGI)
