Dr Ismail Bin Abd Rahman has more than 30 year experience in the management, academics, banking, training and consulting. He is currently the President of Qaiwan International University in Sulaimaniyah, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG-Iraq). The position is the highest ranking Malaysian academician to lead in an international university. He has trained numerous companies from diverse countries and cultures. His area of training includes Change Management, Financial Management and Corporate Governance, Business Ethics, Islamic Finance and Fiqh Muamalat. 

He was the pioneer in the early setup of Cagamas Berhad as a Mortgage Accountant which involved in the secondary mortgage market. He then joined Bank Negara Malaysia in the Bank Examination Department and pursued doing operations audit in the controllers department in Esso Production Malaysia Incorporated (EPMI). Dr Ismail joined Maybank and was doing operations and credit department for a number of years before joining University Technology Malaysia in 1996 as an academician. In the University, he is involved with several key training management which include developing learning modules and executive development programmes and MBA classes. During his studies in United Kingdom, he managed to join Llyold’s Bank, in Glasgow, Scotland 

Dr Ismail holds a double doctorate degree in Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from International Islamic University (IIUM) and a PhD with a research topic in Maqasid Shariah in University Technology Malaysia. He also has a double Master degree in MBA from University of Denver, Colorado, USA and Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) from University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom. Dr Ismail has presented papers in Copenhagen Business School, Saaid Business School (Oxford), Havard University, Rome, Paris and Doha, Qatar. 

He is also a holder of Certified Professional Trainer (CPTF) from University of Malaya, and a HRDF Certified Trainer. He received his public speaking training mentored by Liz Kristiansen of BBC Scotland. On the international platform, Dr Ismail has conducted a 3-day microfinance for top senior bankers in Khartoum, Sudan and World Class University workshop in Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. He has been invited as guest speaker live in both RTM1’s Pra Bajet 2018 and Pasca Bajet 2018 .
