Cortona, a medieval city of art among the hills of the Val di Chiana is home to the Palazzone, a monumental villa built by Cardinal Silvio Passerini (1469-1529).

The construction of the Palazzone took place between 1521 and 1527 designed by the Perugian painter, architect and poet Giovan Battista Caporali (c. 1476–1560), disciple of Perugino.

In 1968 the villa was donated by Count Lorenzo Passerini to Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa to host teaching events and conferences.

By plane:
Fly to Florence and then take a train from Florence to Camucia-Cortona (the train takes approximately 1.30h).
Fly to Rome and then take a train from Rome to Camucia-Cortona (the train takes approximately 2h).
Fly to Perugia and then take a train from Perugia to Camucia-Cortona (the train takes approximately 45min).

Florence-Rome railway line: Terontola station or Camucia-Cortona.
Terontola-Perugia-Assisi-Terni railway line: Terontola station.
From these stations it is easy to reach Cortona by taxi or by bus with “La Ferroviaria Italiana Spa Arezzo” (www.lfi.it)
Please be aware that on Sunday bus service is minimal and it could be complicated to find a taxi outside of the station. You should book it on the phone (see numbers below)
By car:
Coming from the North or South on the A1 motorway: exit at the Valdichiana-Bettolle toll booth, continue in the direction Perugia on the Perugia-Bettolle connection (S75bis), leave the junction at the intersection with SR71 and follow the signs to for Cortona.
