Andrea PIEMONTE is a Researcher of Topography and Cartography at the University of Pisa, Italy. He was born in Trieste (Italy) in 1972 and achieved his MSc Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Trieste, Italy. From the same University he also achieved his PhD Degree in Geomatics and Geographic Information Systems.

He teaches Topography for the Course of Civil, Environmental and Building Engineering BSc Degree and Architecture Survey Methods for the Course of Architecture and Building Engineering MSc Degree at Pisa University, Italy.

He is a member of the teaching body of the Civil and Environmental Engineering International PhD Course of Firenze University, Italy.

He cooperates in the research activities of Prof. Gabriella Caroti at A.S.T.R.O. Laboratory of Civil Engineering Department of Pisa University.

His main research interests lie in the broad area of surveying, with particular emphasis on satellite positioning systems, Mobile Mapping Systems, terrestrial laser scanning, photogrammetry, UAVs and Geographic Information Systems.
