1. The Cambridge Dictionary is the official dictionary of the competition, and is the source of words and word information for all rounds of competition.
2. A speller is immediately eliminated from the competition and will not advance to the next round if they provide an incorrect answer.
3. Spelling rounds have 90-second time limits for spellers.
4. The final round starts with maximum 5 final contestants, and a minimum of 2.
5. If played the final round twice and there is no champion, contestants have to compete in the spell-off round.

There are 206 words in total, all of them in the framework of the District of Barrancabermeja, its natural resources, tourism, academic words, transport, the different industries and many of them related to our "Green Paradise"; UNIPAZ.
How many rounds are in the Spelling Bee?
It is separated in four rounds, described below:
-Round one: spellers can read the word. Then they have to pronounce it, spell it and pronounce it once again.
-Round two: the moderator reads the word (normal speed), contestants listen but cannot see it. Then they pronounce it, spell it and pronounce it once again.
-Round three: the moderator spells the word (normal speed), contestants listen but cannot see it. Then they pronounce it, spell it and pronounce it once again.
-Final round: The moderator spells the word (as fast as possible), contestants listen but cannot see it. Then they pronounce it, spell it and pronounce it once again.
Extra round in case of a tie:
-Spell-off round: A definition of a word will be displayed, spellers have to read it, say the word, spell it and repeat once again.
