Mr. C

Welcome to UMS and Room 38!

My name is Matthew Cunningham (better known to the students as Mr. C), and I am extremely excited about the upcoming year at Union Middle! This will be my second year teaching math and science at Union Middle. Before teaching at UMS, I had been at Lietz Elementary (also in Union School District) teaching 4th and 5th grade for 15 years. I cannot wait to continue being a part of the amazing community that is Union School District!

I know middle school can feel like a scary, strange time, but I do hope your child will quickly come to see just how amazing and welcoming Union Middle is, just as I have.

One of my main goals in the classroom is to create a community in which every student feels like they belong. A place where they are safe, respected, are free to make (and learn from) mistakes, and are free to be themselves! While academics are certainly important, I view the students' social and emotional development as equally important, especially during this period of their life.
