The Eureka Squared math homework workbook is called Apply, and it will be sent home with your child in advance of the beginning of each module. Check out this website to learn more about the program. There are six modules covered in fourth grade. Your child will write down their math homework pages every night in their Plan Book to help them stay organized. I will also inform families in my Thursday newsletter which lessons will be covered each day the following week.
On a daily basis, your child will be assigned reading for at least 20 minutes.
Sometimes your child may need to complete unfinished work at home.
On rare occasions, your child may be encouraged to work on projects at home.
I also recommend the online programs Happy Numbers, Lexia, and Quill for extra math and reading/grammar practice at home.
For the safety of students, our classroom is a nut free community. Any product, especially food, containing nuts is not allowed in the classroom. Families are not allowed to pack nut products for snack or lunch. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our site administration and nurse.
CELEBRATING BIRTHDAYS
Your child's birthday will be acknowledged in class and your child will receive a birthday bracelet. Our district has asked that families NOT bring in birthday treats/food due to the increase in food allergies and sensitivities. Goodie bags are acceptable, but not necessary.
Please call the office at the 24 Hr Attendance line: (408) 264-8837 and email me at heacockm@unionsd.org when your child will be absent. I will have a folder of missed work that can be ready to be picked up in the office at your convenience. If the absence will be 3 days or longer, please let the office and teacher know at least TWO weeks in advance for Independent Studies. Many thanks!
