Leah Piscitelli is a Computer Science and Visual Arts interdepartmental major from Westwood, Massachusetts. While at Union, Leah has explored all the college has to offer and discovered her favorite language to code in is Java. She loves having a creative outlet; her passion and talents have grown while she has discovered new ways to express herself. Her main interests are in the worlds of digital art and photography. While creating art she has watched many shows, her favorite of which are Psych and New Girl. After graduation, she plans on getting a job that combines her two disciplines of study. She thanks all her family and friends who got dragged into the studio throughout the years to see her work.
“My work consists of two 65” monitors with the screens facing each other and an interactive interface in between. The monitors display cut up magazines with more pages behind it. The interaction causes the display to change, creating an illusion that the user is walking through the magazine. The magazines were all chosen as they were cut up to create a piece of art. Using scrap pages, and generative art it creates a new life and story then it had in the original publication. The goal is for users to experience a changing story while exploring their intentions of interaction.”
Spaces Between Us Is the name of the senior art show for the Union College class of 2023. The exhibit consists of paintings, sculptures, photographs and more. Leah's work is a combination of computer science and visual arts, and was produced as her senior thesis project.
