Create a enclosed space that relates to an existing structure or style of architecture. Begin by researching a structure or style of architecture and use it as a starting point. Architectural styles that you may want to research include, Art Deco, Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, Gothic, Neo-Classic, Prairie School, Victorian, and many more you can discover. For instance, what type of architectural space are you sitting in right now? Remember, you are creating the inside of the space, not the outside. The space will be created using primitives and lit accordingly.

For this assignment you will be generating a virtual still life that leans towards the surreal or fantastic. Bring in three objects from around your house or that you purchase. At least two of the objects should be organic (fruit, plants, food, bones, body parts, etc.). You will then 3D model and texture map each object as close to photo realistically as you can. Afterwards, you will use all these objects in some form of composition that is inspired by Hyperrealism, Surrealism, Cubism or all three!

What might the world look like in the year 2124? What will everyday objects be like? For this assignment you will be required to envision and model a product or scene from the future. You may choose to create a snapshot into that future or focus on one object. By taking into consideration the last 100 years of history, try and make an informed guess to what our reality might become. What products might you find and use in that time? What might humans be like? What will transportation look like? How about telecommunications, entertainment or war?

After these initial assignments are complete, you will be expected to create a digital artwork, or series of works, from your own personal artistic interests. The concept of the series should inform the way they are presented. I will meet with each of you to help determine a directed program of study and techniques necessary for you to realize a significant work of digital art that you will be proud to display.
Each student is required to make one presentation of an artist of their choice from the list below. Please review all of the sites below and choose one artist to present to the class. Additional research online or in the library will be necessary.
Presentations should be a minimum of 10 min and a max of 15 minutes and should include showing the work to the class via powerpoint, explaining the artists concept, their philosophy of art making, relation of 3D work to other works the artist has produced - either using or not using 3D modeling and how the work may have developed or differed because of the ability to model virtually and then commit the work to the material later.
