"ChatGPT says no: agency, trust, and legal advice by GenAI - what could possibly go wrong?"
Professor of Human-Computer Interaction, University of Nottingham; Director of Research RAI UK.
Joel Fischer is a Professor of Human-Computer Interaction at the University of Nottingham, researching how AI technologies can support human activities and reasoning in a human-centred fashion. He is Research Director and Co-Investigator for Responsible AI UK and the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems TAS Hub, as well as Co-I on the Horizon Digital Economy centre on “Trusted Data-Driven Products”.
With a multidisciplinary approach that spans ethnography, participatory design, prototyping, and studies of technology deployments, Joel has led and contributed to major projects on human-AI collaboration, smart systems, and IoT technologies. His research, published in leading HCI and AI venues, has garnered multiple Best Paper awards at CHI and AAMAS.
