GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATION OF PAPERS.
The Organizing Committee of the 5th Scientific Initiation Seminar of the University of Marília (UNIMAR) is pleased to invite you to participate in the presentation of Scientific Initiation projects, which will take place on June 18, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m. The event will be held entirely online, allowing participants to present their work according to the terms set forth herein.
Who can participate?
Undergraduate students involved in Scientific Initiation programs, either Brazilian or international, from partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), regularly enrolled in undergraduate courses in 2025.
Each submitted work may have one or more authors.
For UNIMAR students participating in Scientific Initiation programs under the following calls: PIIC AGRÁRIAS (Call 08/2024), PIIC GERAL (Call 01/2024), PIBIC/CNPq (Call 06/2024), PIBITI/CNPq (Call 10/2024), PIIT/UNIMAR (Call 04/2024), PIIC – Saúde (Call 09/2024), and ICJ/CNPq (Call 11/2024), participation in the event is mandatory.
Types of papers .
Abstracts may present results from field research, literature reviews, or experience reports. While submissions from all health-related areas are accepted, topics related to diabetes, obesity, and cancer will be prioritized.
Abstract types.
1. SIMPLE ABSTRACTS.
For students under the ICJ/UNIMAR program (Call 11/2024) and external students. They may choose between simple or expanded format (Model A)
Must be written in Word, Arial font, size 12, single line spacing.
Content must include: objectives, materials and methods, results, and conclusions (even if partial).
No citations, tables, figures, graphs, or illustrations are allowed.
Word count: between 300 and 500 words.
2. EXPANDED ABSTRACTS.
Intended for national and international scholarship holders and volunteers (Model B).
Scholarship students must indicate the nature of the scholarship after their name, in parentheses. Example: Scientific Initiation Scholar –PIIC/UNIMAR.
The advisor's email address is mandatory in the abstract header for both UNIMAR and external students.
Abstract submission
Abstracts must be submitted only by the lead student (first author) by May 31, 2024, at 11:59 PM (Brasília time) through the same registration platform.
Submissions sent by other means or after the deadline will not be accepted. All abstracts will undergo double-blind review.
Abstracts from international partner institutions must be submitted in both the original language and in Portuguese (BR).
Oral presentation.
Pre-selected abstracts will proceed to the second phase: an oral (online) presentation during the event.
Presentations will take place in virtual rooms on the registration platform, accessible in the participant's area.
Presenters may share their screen and display their file in DOCX, PPTX, or PDF formats.
Files must be open on the presenter’s computer and not in full-screen mode.
Presentation time: 10 minutes, plus 5 minutes for evaluator feedback.
Poster guidelines.
Posters must be created in PowerPoint or similar software, following ABNT standard nº 15737 (2006) dimensions: Width between 60–90 cm; Height between 90–120 cm. Posters must be legible from at least 1 meter away and include a support mechanism for hanging he graphic layout is the sole responsibility of the authors.
Registration
Registration is open at https://oficial.unimar.br/ from April 9 to May 31, 2025.
Registration fees.
R$30.00 (BRL) for presenters, main authors, co-authors, and faculty from UNIMAR’s partner institutions.
R$10.00 (BRL) for UNIMAR students, authors, and faculty, as well as high school students.
Listeners participate free of charge.
The abstract's publication and presentation are subject to payment of the registration fee via bank slip or through the platform (no direct payments to NIPEX)Only the lead author must submit the abstract. Co-authors and advisors must register but do not submit the file.
Edits will not be allowed after submission.
Each student may submit only one abstract as the main author, and may be co-author in one additional paper.
The service fee from the registration platform is the participant's responsibility.
Certificates.
Certificates of PRESENTATION will be granted only to the presenter (first author), provided the registration was completed.
Workload: 20h for presenters, 10h for listeners. Co-authors and advisors will receive certificates with no hour load.
Certificates will be sent in PDF format to the email provided at registration.
Publication.
Presented works will be published in the 5th Edition of the Online Abstract Book of SEMIC, indexed with ISSN 2176-8544, available at:
https://oficial.unimar.br/nipex/publicacoes/ . Publication is conditional upon the registration of all authors, including the advisor.
General provisions
Any issues not covered in this regulation will be resolved by the PIIC/UNIMAR Coordination and the Institutional Committee for Scientific Initiation, in agreement with the UNIMAR Rectorate.
The use of Sensitive Personal Data will comply with LGPD Law 13.709/2018, and will be processed only for selection purposes, based on participant consent.
Each author is responsible for their work and must comply with ethics, plagiarism, and self-plagiarism regulations. The event committee is not liable for violations.
