The STEM Programme: Smart Switch Kit Based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for Education was held at SK Dato’ Wan Kemara, Changlun, involving 75 students.
The programme was organized by the USR & Sustainability Committee of FKTEN, with sponsorship from IEEE TryEngineering through an international grant, led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Sohiful Anuar Zainol Murad, and assisted by eight lecturers and seven students from FKTEN.
The main objective of this programme was to provide early exposure to primary school students on Internet of Things (IoT) technology through a hands-on learning approach. This initiative aims to cultivate students’ interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), thereby nurturing a technologically literate generation from an early age.

We received a total of 135 applications from volunteers throughout the world and 28 new STEM Champions were selected. Our reviewers were inspired by the great work you are doing. Each application was reviewed by 3 reviewers. A point system was used and the points were calculated based on your responses. Those applications with a score of 11.33 or higher (out of a possible 13.5) were selected.

Visit to Universities in Medan: Strengthening Academic Collaboration - 10-12 Feb 2025
A recent visit to several universities in Medan, including Universitas Al Azhar (UNAZ), Universitas Harapan (UNHAR), and Universitas Pembangunan Panca Budi (UNPAB), provided a platform for fostering academic and community engagement. During the visit, activities such as motivational talks aimed at inspiring students, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives benefiting local high schools, and discussions with university representatives were conducted. The discussions centered on exploring potential collaborations in areas such as supervision, academic exchange, joint research projects, and student development programs. This engagement not only strengthened ties between institutions but also laid the groundwork for future partnerships that promote knowledge sharing and cross-cultural learning.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IEEE Circuits and Systems (CASS) Malaysia Chapter, held at the picturesque Bangi Resort Hotel. The event was a great platform to review the chapter's achievements, discuss future directions, and foster collaboration among members. Thank you to all who participated and contributed to making this meeting a success. We look forward to another productive year ahead with exciting initiatives and continued engagement within our vibrant community.
