(Doctor in Telecommunication Engineering by the Technical University of Madrid, and M.Sc. in Philosophy by the National University for Distance Education, UNED) he is currently a Professor at the Madrid Open University, Spain, and at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Between 1997 and 2009, he was an associate professor at the University Alfonso X el Sabio. As a researcher, he also worked at the Technical University of Madrid (1997-2003) and the Technical University of Vienna (1996). He has been a Visiting and Invited Professor at several universities in Europe and Latin America. He is part of the board of directors of the International Association for the Study of Information (IS4SI), coordinator of the BITrum-Research Group, member of the Institute for a Global Sustainable Information Society (GSIS, Austria), and the International Center for Information Ethics (ICIE). He belongs to the editorial boards of the Journals TripleC, International Review of Information Ethics (IRIE), Systema, and glossariumBITri. His research focuses on the interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary study of information communication, perception, systems and complexity.
